Norway Lacrosse has narrowed down their national pool to 23 men that will represent the Land of the Midnight Sun in July’s FIL World Lacrosse Championship. The final roster heading to Israel features homegrown talent from six different clubs from four cities in the Norwegian National League: Oslo Lacrosse (Oslo), GSI Grizzlies (Grimstad), BI Athletics Lions (Oslo), Christiania Lacrosse (Oslo), NTNUI (Trondheim), UiA Studs (Kristiansand).
Norway began international play in the 2010 FIL World Championships, placing 24th, following up with a 25th finish in the 2014 games. Riding the wave of the growing success on the National League, Norway Lacrosse seems to be in position to shake things up in 2018. A member of the Green Division in 2014, they were matched with Italy, Netherlands, and China. Despite earning wins over the Netherlands head-to-head, Italy, the Netherlands, and Norway all finished group play 2-1. The tie-breaker came down to goal ratio, with the Netherlands taking the top position at +20, Norway had +13.

They know that they not only need to win games, but to keep putting the ball into the back of the net. Finishing 12th of 24 in the 2016 European Championships proves that the Norwegians are on the rise, but there’s still plenty of work to be done before July. Here’s the group of the 23 prepared for the task…
