This is a very special STX Viper edition of That Old Lacrosse Head.
Mat Levine has been running Doc’s NYC Lacrosse for 20 years now, and 2015 will be the 20th season of Doc’s Spring teams. What started as 15 boys in a small dust bowl in New York City’s Central Park has blossomed into a town model program for boys and girls from Kindergarten to 8th grade, with over 600 players per year.
I have worked with and for Mat for a couple years now, and I’ve seen firsthand how hard he works at making lacrosse in NYC a reality. It’s not an easy task and Coach Levine really pours himself into the mission. Did I mention that he is also the driving forced behind CityLax, which brings lacrosse to public schools in the five boroughs? Oh yeah, he does that too.
As a small show of thanks I fixed up this old Doc’s NYC dyed STX Viper that Mat had been given at some point in the past 20 years. It’s getting new life, and I think Coach Levine will be able to sting some corners with this bad boy.
